Disoriented Strand Branch
OSB, superglue, 57x11x9cm.
2023.
In my artwork rewilding has found expression in the mimesis of natural beings: the transformation of industrialised materials like paper, cardboard, or wood that have been flattened and stripped of their personality back into their natural states. ‘Disoriented Strand Branch’ is a reconfiguration of a piece of Oriented Strand Board (OSB) of around 40x35cm. The board was chiselled apart in a deliberately slow, meditative process that lasted many hours, a resistance against today’s accelerated temporality. The individual strands were then glued back together in the shape of a branch, reminding us of where the material came from.
