Rewilding through art
My art engages with ideas about nature, landscape, environment, and sustainability through drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, and installation. The central theme is rewilding, a term that, on the one hand, refers to the restoration of ecosystems in which nature is largely allowed to take care of itself. On the other hand, rewilding incorporates the anarchist idea of human "domestication" through our sedentary lifestyle that has resulted in a loss of vibrancy and wildness. In my practice I follow a dual process in which I'm rewilding myself as I move between the studio, urban green spaces in London and more rural, remote and 'wild' landscapes, as well as rewilding my materials back from their flattened state to a rawer, richer, more textured life.
